Toronto Comedy Clubs

Toronto is Canada's entertainment hub. If you're looking to see a show or trying a new dining establishment, Toronto is where you want to be. Getting out and seeing some shows is a great way to begin to settle into life in a new city, so if you've just moved to Toronto or you're just visiting the city, why not take in a comedy show? There are dozens of dedicated comedy clubs you can choose from and most of them have shows running all week. Here are some of our favorite places to catch Toronto comedy routines.

Second City

Second City is the city's most famous comedy club. With locations in Chicago, Toronto, and LA, many people remember Second City's particular brand of improve from the TV show of the same name that was popular during the 1970s and 1980s. Many famous comedians, such as Mike Meyers, Steven Colbert, and Eugene Levy got their start with Second City. If you want the best in cabaret style improv comedy, leave your home and come to Second City on Blue Jays Way in downtown Toronto.

Yuk Yuks

Yuk Yuks is the world's largest chain of comedy clubs with locations all over Canada. The Toronto location is on Richmond St. West and features shows Tuesdays through Saturdays, so even if you're only taking Revit Training in Toronto on weekdays you can still catch a show. You can book a ticket or buy on the day if there's any left, and seating is assigned on a first come first served basis. Sometimes special shows featuring famous comedians will come to Yuk Yuks but mostly this club features a rotating calendar of up and coming amateur stand up comedians.

Bad Dog Theater

The Bad Dog Theater company isn't your average comedy club. It features all forms of improv and parody and the shows are performed by its in house theater troupe. You can see shows most nights of the week after you get tired of work and stress, by coming to the Comedy Bar on Bloor St. West. If, however, you want to try your hand at improv you can do that too by attending one of their workshops or classes. There are sessions for both teens and adults.

Absolute Comedy

Did you know that you can hire your own comedian? The place to do that is Absolute Comedy on Yonge St. Shows play from Wednesday to Sunday if you want to come to the club. On Wednesday night you can see local amateur comedians (or be one yourself) and on all other nights you get to see two or three professionals. Shows are affordable but reservations are required for all shows.
